5 FAVORITE HAIR PRODUCTS FROM 2014

2015 is in full swing and I am super late with this post. However, I do hope that you all will forgive me! *bats eyelashes* I couldn’t let us get too far along without sharing my 5 favorite hair products from 2014. These products have been tried numerous times throughout the year and have been carried over into my 2015 arsenal. This list is not in any particular order:

Hello Curlies Buttermilk Moisturizer ($9.99):

www.hellocurlies.com

Description: Is frizz and dryness an issue for your coily texture? Our Buttermilk Moisturizer is a superb daily moisturizer that softens up your texture. This is an essential must have for coily texture.

The product contains shea butter and avocado oil, but it is free of parabens, mineral oil, sulfates, and petroleum.

Although this moisturizer is labeled for coily textures, I absolutely love it! It is lightweight and is great for moisturizing my dry strands. It has a lotion-like consistency and a very light fragrance, which makes me like the product so much more. I notice that my hair is softer and shinier after using it. A little definitely goes a long way and the price definitely deserves two thumbs up!

Briogeo Be Gentle, Be Kind Avocado + Quinoa Co-Wash ($20)

www.sephora.com

Description: A sulfate-free, cream based cleanser that effectively yet gently cleanses the hair without stripping it of its natural oils or color. This cream-based, gentle co-wash cleanser does not lather– its hydrating cleansing agents effectively remove dirt and oil while deeply moisturizing. Comprised of 91 percent naturally-derived ingredients, the four-in-one cleanser effectively cleanses, conditions, nourishes, and detangles the hair.

Avocado oil: replenishes and maintains hair moisture and nourishment Quinoa extract: forms a protective barrier to protect the hair from environmental stresses, retains moisture in the hair, and provides nutrients to the hair Shea butter: Helps increase hair sheen, softness, and body and enhances the texture and feel of the hair Aloe vera: Moisturizes and softens the hair while soothing and hydrating the scalp

You can read the ingredients here.

This co-wash is definitely one of the best that I’ve EVER tried. I love how clean my hair and scalp feel after using it, and my hair still feels soft and moisturized. It has a very pleasant scent, which reminds me of the usual Briogeo fragrance– light, airy, kind of citrusy, and spring/summer like. I also like that this co-wash has slip! I can definitely detangle my hair after washing it, which is a plus. This product is a little pricey especially for the size of the bottle, but the spreadability makes this work. I definitely suggest looking into it if you want to treat yourself.

*I am a Briogeo Brand Ambassador, but this review is my own. Briogeo products can be purchased through the Curls Fo’ The Girls site, the Briogeo site, Sephora, or Ricky’s NYC.

Curl Junkie Curl Assurance Smoothing Lotion ($20)

www.curlmart.com

Description: A new super detangling leave-in that can help you moisturize and style your curls and curls. You only need a little to help you smooth out your hair. It can be used alone or can provide a great base for other styling products. It can also be used as a rinse-out or on dry hair to add moisture when needed or as a styling aid for twists and braids.

I absolutely love this product because the description does notlie! This product has a crazy amount of slip, which makes it perfect for detangling. In my opinion, it does not have a normal lotion-like consistency; it seems a little more watery than usual. However, this product has great spreadability and a little goes a long way. I’m able to finger detangle easily when I use this smoothing lotion. Although it is priced at $20, you don’t need a lot so it will last for some time.

Eden BodyWorks Jojoba Monoi All Natural Deep Conditioner ($9.99)

www.edenbodyworks.com

Description: JOJOBA All Natural Deep Conditioner strengthens hair through its botanical combination of Coconut, Jojoba, and Monoi. Formulated to replenish hair strength and restore hair’s natural beauty from over processing, damage, and dryness. Fortified to balance the hair’s moisture level, resulting in stronger, healthier, more manageable hair. Excellent deep conditioner for all textures and hair types.

This product was made without sulfates and contains no mineral oils (petroleum), dyes, or paraben, and is cruelty free.

I first picked up this conditioner at CurlFest and I’ve been hooked ever since! Since my hair has been lightened, I need all the moisture I can get, especially because blonde tends to be drying. This deep conditioner softens and moisturizes my hair with ease! This conditioner is very thick, which is a plus especially in the drying winter months. At $10 and a 16oz container, this product lasts for some time before you have to reup!

Camille Rose Naturals Almond Jai Twisting Butter ($16.99)

www.curlmart.com

Description: Best twisting butter ever! Achieve the ultimate soft, full twist out with a combination of almond milk, almond oil, jojoba, hemp, and a drizzle of honey. Your style will be elongated, silky, and held in place!

This is definitely one of the best twisting butters I’ve ever tried. I’m not a fan of butters because I have fine strands, but this butter has definitely changed my mind! It isn’t heavy, which is great because my strands are weighed down easily. I use this butter when I want to twist my hair because it helps seal in the moisture, while providing me with soft, juicy twists. My twist outs are well defined and soft after use. I also love the fragrance, which reminds me of vanilla cupcakes. (yum). I’ve yet to use this product for my wash & gos although the label states it can be used “for extra moisture and elongation”. I will continue to use this product for my intended use at purchase, which was for twist out styles, etc. The price is also great for an 8oz jar, especially because you don’t need much product. If you need a styler for your twists, braid outs, or whatever, I suggest grabbing this. You won’t be disappointed!

Until next time,
