MY FAVORITE BEAUTY ESSENTIALS (SUMMER EDITION) UPDATED

Hey all! I just wanted to drop in and share my summer beauty essentials with you all. With summer around the corner, it is important that we lighten up our makeup bags by putting some products on the back shelf and utilizing other items to keep us fresh and flawless at all times.

I try to make sure I have these items on me at all times during the summer. I want to ensure that I look fresh faced in the sweltering heat and that I’m my freshest at all possible times. These products help me stay fresh, and I definitely want to share them with you all!

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream, maybelline.com

BB Cream, Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream ($7.44-8.99) BB creams are perfect alternatives to foundations in the summer. They are lightweight so they don’t run or melt off, they provide a sheer, tinted coverage, and they have an SPF, which is essential for healthy skin! My favorite BB cream is the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream. It is great for normal skin, but it is oil free so it works wonderfully for combination skin types as well. It has 8 benefits– blurs imperfections, brightens, evens skin tone, smoothes, hydrates, enhances, SPF 30, and is oil free– and I have definitely noticed a difference in my skin while wearing it. My skin is definitely brighter and appears healthier which is always a plus!

I definitely recommend picking up a BB cream for the warmer temps because of the lightweight formula; it allows your skin to breathe! Adding a sweep of bronzer on your cheeks for a sun-kissed glow will complete the look.

Pampers Baby Wipes, pampers.com

Baby Wipes (travel pack, $2.99) It may sound silly, but I never go anywhere without baby wipes! I always carry the travel pack because they conveniently fit in my bags for a burst of freshness throughout the day.

Wipes are definitely great for freshening up your lady parts and are perfect for wiping down sweaty pits until you are able to reach soap and water. I suggest picking up a pack; you will thank me later!

Hawaiian Tropic Sunscreen, hawaiiantropic.com

Sunscreen ($10.99) Everyone loves a good tan, but it is important to understand the importance of an SPF. Using an SPF is extremely important because it aids in the protection of your skin from harmful UVA/UVA rays, which can lead to age spots, wrinkles, and cancer. The amount of time you spend outside will help you determine the SPF you need– longer times outside require higher SPFs to ensure that you are getting the proper protection.

My favorite sunscreen is the Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Sunscreen. I was able to catch some sun while protecting my skin. This sunscreen also smells amazing! I think people tend to shy away from sunscreens because they have an awful smell and they leave a film over the skin. Believe me when I tell you– this sunscreen has a pleasant smell and there was no film left behind. I can’t describe the smell, but I would not recommend this sunscreen to men unless they don’t mind smelling like coconut and pretty flowers, lol.

*Please keep in mind that you should reapply sunscreen every couple of hours and more so especially if you’ve been sweating or in water. It’s important to keep your skin protected at all times!

Conair Bobby Pins, cvs.com

Hair Pins ($2.19-3.49) OMG! I cannot express how important bobby pins are during the summer. They are great for getting loose hairs out of your face and off your neck especially when the sun is beating down on you. They can also turn a frizzy mess into a fab updo. In other words, bobby pins are lifesavers. I honestly never leave home without them because I understand how useful they are.

Remember that the grooves are to be placed against your scalp to hold hair in place! I don’t understand how people didn’t realize this before so I’m saying it again. They are perfect for sticking in your bag on the go or last minute in case your current hairstyle fails you while you’re out. It’s sometimes easier to pin & go!

Blistex w/ SPF, blistex.com

Lip Balm with SPF ($2.49) I’m going to have you covered in SPF from head to toe, but I promise it’s for a good reason. Anywho, protecting your lips from harmful UVA/UVB rays is just as important as protecting the rest of your body. Yes, lipgloss is nice, but certain lip products offer very little to no protection for your lips. My favorite lip balm with SPF is the Blistex Five Star Protection. It has an SPF of 30, is water resistant for up to 80 minutes, and it keeps lips soft and hydrated. I usually keep this in my bag and reapply when necessary. It definitely works to keep my lips hydrated while protecting them. I would recommend applying a lip balm with SPF before applying lipgloss or lipstick. It’s better to be safe than sorry!

NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder, Translucent, cvs.com

NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder, Translucent ($2.79) This translucent powder is a Holy Grail item. It helps to reduce oil and shine, which are big issues with my combination oily skin. The powder is super lightweight and leaves my skin silky smooth without making my face feel heavy or clogging my pores.

I’ve been using the loose powder after I’ve applied my facial sunscreen. I apply it using a large, flat head kabuki brush; I then buff the powder into my skin. This way, my skin is silky smooth and matte all day long even in the hottest temperatures. I rarely have to do any touchups during the day, which is great, and my skin looks fresh!

These are some of my must-have essentials for the summer. I’m sure there are plenty more to name, but you can never go wrong with these items.

Until next time, Ashley, xo.
